7. The Fashion Is You

When we moved to Sungai Pelek, we thought that there won't be much fashion sense here. The first month of us being here, we were busy settling down after Saliza gave birth to Tia Lisa.

To make our stay at home more interesting during Saliza's confinement, we tried to infuse fashion in everything we did. Be it during gardening, chainsawing trees, landscaping or while doing some repair work at home. The result, was our own self satisfaction!

Thirty days after Lisa was born, we started going to the Village-style Karaoke and sang on stage in front of public eyes. It was our first public appearance on stage in Sungai Pelek. It was a scary moment for us as many of the locals here were very good in their singing in public. We were more amazed by some who were just flying and enjoying themselves so much with a high confidence on stage, something that we don't and never have. Out of the many locals, our eyes turned to this one lady who looks like she is in her late 50's. She looks so good, have a very good fashion sense and the confidence of a lioness. Her name is "Fatimah Razak".

* Zurah 2 Entertainment. will be organizing an open karaoke competition at Warung Mak Jah Bagan Lalang Beach, the entry will be on the 26th August 2017 at 8.30 pm. Walk in contenders are most welcome.

Sempena menyambut Hari Kemerdekaan ke 60, Zurah 2 Entertainment akan menganjurkan pertandingan Karaoke di Warung Mak Jah Pantai Bagan Lalang. Saringan pada 26 Ogos ini jam 8.30 malam. Siapa yang berminat untuk menyertai pertandingan ini amat dialu-alukan kedatangan anda.

Not knowing who she was, we put her as the benchmark for us to be good in public singing at the Village Karaoke.

We adore how she dressed even though it is only at a 'Kampong' Karaoke. We adore her positiveness, her smile, her confidence, her energy even when she is singing for an audience of two.

So, the first step to follow through is the easiest one, Good Clothing. We dressed the best we can, sometimes even wearing the same in pairs. The rest such as the stage presence and stage confidence came in later after we received positiveness and supports from our audience, especially from Kak Fatimah Razak herself.

Now, 2 years later, Kak Fatimah Razak and her husband have been one of our closest friends here in Sungai Pelek Town.

Sungai Pelek is considered as a small village town because it consists of many villages around this town. There is really a multiracial community here with the Chinese villages, Indian villages, Malay villages, Javanese villages and even the Indigenous People villages. Most of them are actually very artsy and have good fashion senses too.

Well, good clothing still means a lot even here, in this rural area. People treat you with respect if you look good, but looking good is not enough if it does not match with the person you are inside.

To summarize it all, it is all about who you are inside which in turn change the person you are on the outside, the type of fashion you choose and the clothes you wear. Come to think of it, whatever you wear and whatever you choose in the end, 'The Fashion is You!'
